I find that sometimes creativity seems very easy and natural, resulting in the birth of a card with minimal fuss.  This is not one of those cards.  This was most definitely a breach birth!

It started out life as a Japanese-style scene with distant mountains, a temple on a lake shore and cherry blossom in the foreground.  I left an open space under the cherry branch ready for a greeting and coloured it with watercolour pencils and an aqua painter.

BUT:  I was really unhappy with the result!  The composition was OK, the masking and scene building worked as planned but something went awry with the colouring - it looked much to strong to me.

If I hadn't already invested so much time and effort it may have ended up in the bin.  However, since the investment was there, I tried to think of a way to use it.

So, I brayered Whisper White Craft Ink all over it!  Then added some cherry blossoms cut with the coordinating Cherry Blossoms Dies from the Forever Blossoms Bundle.  My idea was that these blossoms would be the new foreground with the ill-fated scene providing a misty, distant background.

Did it work?

The Power of Hope stamp set is part of a bundle from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue - that means it's free with a qualifying purchase.

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!

  1. Breech Birth....Oh, my goodness! You had me rolling in laughter! Unfortunately, I know that pain well! However, I think you pulled it off beautifully! It does appear a misty scene in the background and your apple blossoms are lovely! Hopefully your next creation won't be as painful, Dear Friend! Hugs to you!

    2. I was talking 'card bearing birth' not 'child birth', Stephanie!
