Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop. You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.
Our theme this month is a 3D project and I've made a Christmas Cracker (or BonBon) with the Brightly Gleaming Suite.
A Christmas Cracker (or bonbon) featuring the Brightly Gleaming Suite |
In addition to the Stampin' Up products listed below, I also used two cardboard rolls, a paper hat and cracker strip/snap (sold as a cracker making kit) that I purchased from my local craft store.
I used a piece of Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper that was 12" long and just wide enough to wrap around the tubes with a slight overlap.
Positioning the cardboard rolls on the paper to make the Brightly Gleaming Christmas Cracker |
I cut one of the tubes in half and then used Tear & Tape adhesive to stick the tubes into position with the whole tube in the middle and the halves at each end.
To make rolling and sticking easier, I placed more Tear & Tape on top of the rolls and also (although I did it after taking this photo) a piece along the bottom edge of the paper.
I adhered all my decorative elements to a Stitched Nested Label and then attached that to the cracker with Glue Dots.
TIPS:
- Make sure to leave plenty of space between the rolls to allow for scrunching and tying ribbon.
- I haven't tested it, so I don't know if it will make a difference, but after rolling, I punched a row of holes into the paper between the rolls with the idea that it might make pulling the cracker easier.
- I tied one end with ribbon before placing the cracker, hat and gift into the middle and then tied the second ribbon.
- I used a little piece of sticky tape at one end to keep the snap in position
If you have the entire Brightly Gleaming Suite, you could also use the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements to decorate this Christmas Cracker and tie the ends with the 1/2" Classic Weave Ribbon |
'Til next time!
